Endocrinology

The menopausal transition is associated with declining oestrogen levels, resulting in a number of health consequences. In the short term, you may experience a number of troublesome symptoms including hot flushes and sleep disturbance. In the longer term (post menopause) you may be at a higher risk of developing osteoporosis, diabetes and heart disease.

The Menopause Centre partners with several independent endocrinologists and diabetes specialists, including:

  • Dr Hannah Farquhar
  • Dr Warrick Inder
  • Dr Christina Jang
  • Dr Melissa Katz
  • Dr Katherine Wyld

They are all experienced in managing health issues related to the menopause transition. This includes helping you to understand how the changing hormone patterns that occur at menopause may affect your health. Your doctor will create a treatment plan specific to your goals and unique situation, including discussing the risks and benefits of menopausal hormone therapy and other treatments.

If you are diagnosed with diabetes, you may also be referred to a Diabetes Educator. The Menopause Centre partners with Rita Barrett, an independent registered nurse and credentialled diabetes educator. Rita can help you understand and manage your diabetes to achieve optimal health and wellbeing.
